Why A Believers EMS

Four reasons Houston families keep calling us back.

We are not the biggest transport company in Houston. We are the one that answers the phone personally, knows your mother's name on the second ride, and treats the trip to dialysis like it matters — because it does.

About A Believers EMS

A Houston family business moving Houston families since 2006.

A Believers EMS was started in 2006 by Rodney Baker — a Black entrepreneur who believed Houston's elderly, dialysis and discharge patients deserved a transport company that would treat them the way he wanted his own family treated. The name itself was the promise.

Today Rodney still runs the company alongside his son Rod, leading a tight crew of about seven drivers and EMTs out of the Bammel North Houston headquarters. We are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services (#800182), enrolled with Medicare and Texas Medicaid, and rated 5 stars by the families and discharge teams who keep calling us back.

My mother needed stretcher-bound transportation for her medical appointments and lab tests. A Believers were polite, helpful and patient every time. Rodney and his son made the difference for us.

When you call A Believers you actually reach the family. Rodney answers. Rod answers. That kind of accountability does not exist at the big services.

They picked my father up for dialysis three times a week for two years. Same friendly crew. Same on-time arrival. My father called them his Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday family.

Black-owned, family-run, no nonsense. They got my grandmother home from Memorial Hermann with more dignity than the hospital itself gave her. We will never forget.

Reliable. On time. They wait with our patients during outpatient visits and bring them home the same day. Easiest billing handoff for Medicaid in Houston.

Frequently asked

The questions our dispatch team hears most.

What kind of transport does A Believers EMS provide?

We provide non-emergency medical transport — stretcher, wheelchair, BLS-level ambulance rides for dialysis, lab visits, outpatient appointments, hospital discharge and facility-to-facility transfers. For 911-level emergencies please call 911 directly; we are happy to be your follow-up transport once the patient is stable.

Do you accept Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance?

Yes. A Believers EMS LLC is enrolled with Medicare and Texas Medicaid (Medicaid ID #184618001) and works with most major private insurance plans. We handle the paperwork — families and facilities just call to schedule.

What areas of Houston do you serve?

Our base is at 13940 Bammel North Houston Rd in northwest Houston. We routinely serve the Greater Houston metro — including Spring, Cypress, The Woodlands, Tomball, Acres Homes, Memorial, the Medical Center, Sugar Land and Pasadena. Call us with your pickup and drop-off; if we can do it well, we will.

Are you really family-run and Black-owned?

Yes — A Believers EMS LLC was founded in 2006 by Rodney Baker and is still run by Rodney and his son Rod from the same Houston office. Our crew is small, our service is personal, and the name on the door is the family on the phone.

How far in advance should I schedule a transport?

Recurring transports (dialysis, weekly oncology, etc.) we book on a standing schedule that fits your appointment calendar. One-time transports we generally ask for 24-48 hours notice when possible, but we accommodate same-day requests as the fleet allows.

Can a family member ride along with the patient?

Yes — one family member is welcome to ride in the front passenger seat at no additional cost. Just let dispatch know when you book the trip.

How is A Believers EMS licensed?

We are licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services (License #800182), enrolled in the National Provider Identifier registry (NPI #1235213786), permitted by the Houston Health Department, and HIPAA compliant on every transport.

Need transport scheduled?

One call. The Baker family on the other end.

Call Rodney or Rod directly to book a transport, ask about Medicaid coverage, or coordinate a discharge. We answer the phone ourselves — the way it should be.
