One Week Out: The Real Cut
Get your actual wedding-day haircut about a week before the event, not the day before. Fresh-off-the-clippers can look slightly too sharp or "just cut" in close-up photos — a few days lets a fade settle in and look natural rather than razor-crisp. This is also when we recommend bringing the groomsmen in as a group if everyone's getting matched-up cuts for consistency in the photos.
The Day Before: Beard Shaping Only
If you have a beard, a light trim and edge-up the day before (not a full reshape) keeps everything sharp for the ceremony without risking an over-trim mistake with zero time to recover. This is also a good time for a hot towel shave if you're going clean-shaven — it leaves skin calm and photo-ready rather than freshly irritated.
Morning Of: Keep It Simple
Resist the urge to book anything on the wedding morning itself. Between nerves, a tight schedule, and photos starting earlier than you think, the morning of is not the time to test a new product or ask for "just a little more off the top." A quick edge-up is fine if there's genuinely time to spare — a full cut is not.
Groomsmen: Coordinate, Don't Match Exactly
Groomsmen don't need identical haircuts — different face shapes and hair types mean the "same" fade can look very different from one guy to the next. What matters more is consistency in freshness: bring the whole party in during the same week so nobody's cut looks noticeably older or fresher than the others in group photos.
